The holiday season is a time filled with celebrations and socializing. Holiday parties and other gatherings often involve social drinking. While we understand the desire to have fun and enjoy yourself at the end of another long year, we hope you will follow these tips for enjoying yourself and getting home safely.
Choose a Designated Driver
Designated drivers are heroes. If one of your friends doesn’t drink or is willing to remain sober for a night, designating them as a sober driver is a safe and accessible way to make sure you and your friends get home from the bar or party safely.
Alternate Alcoholic Drinks With Water
Alternating your alcoholic beverages with a glass of water throughout the evening can lessen the amount you drink and reduce your chances of being over the legal limit.
Pay For a Ride
Taxi, Uber, Lyft are all viable options for getting you home safe. Some local areas even have services available that will drive you and your car home. There is no excuse for risking your life and the lives of others when so many safe ride options are available.
Bring a Comfy Pillow
If you do not have a designated driver, cannot safely drive, and weren’t able to arrange a taxi or Uber, grab your pillow. There are far worse options than sleeping it off. Chances are your friends couch will be more comfortable than a holding cell floor.
Wear Comfortable Shoes
Can’t bring yourself to sleep on your friend’s couch? If the weather allows, you have the option of walking home. A walk through the brisk winter air is much better than being asked to blow air into a breath testing device.
