Chicago Sees Rise in Gun Violence During 2020 Year

In 2020, there were 750 Chicago murders. This was a 50 percent increase when compared to numbers in 2019. There is speculation however, that increased gun violence could have been caused by stressors unique to the 2020 year. Stay-at-home order caused many to feel trapped, and as if they had limited ways to escape conflict. Another factor that has caused some to speculate this rise in violence could be unique to 2020 is the widely publicized police violence incidences. When individuals stop calling the cops, they find ways to solve problems on their own.
