Failing to adhere to traffic signals and signs prior to entering an intersection can be a dangerous decision. Car accidents involving similar forms of negligence can have disastrous results that could leave those involved in the hospital recovering from severe injuries. A recent accident that took place at an intersection in Illinois has reportedly left several individuals with injuries.
The accident reportedly occurred just before 11 p.m. on a recent Saturday. Law enforcement agents advised that the driver of a southbound truck failed to stop upon approaching an intersection and proceeded to collide with a second vehicle. The driver and passengers of the second vehicle were reportedly transported to a medical facility for treatment of injuries shortly thereafter.
Police also advised that the driver who caused the crash suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. While the cause of the crash appears to have pertained to a failure to yield, it is unclear if any other contributing factors were present. However, police have stated that charges are pending against the driver of the truck.
Reacting to the negligent actions of another driver can be nearly impossible at times and car accidents that take place under similar scenarios can be devastating. Those who suffer serious harm due to such negligence may wish to exercise their rights to seek restitution through the civil justice system, but the process can be stressful and complex. Fortunately, there are attorneys in Illinois who can evaluate the incident thoroughly and assist a client in seeking the full amount of compensation deserved through a personal injury claim.
