Those who encounter a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane of traffic are sometimes left with little to no time to react and avoid collision. Head-on car accidents can be disastrous incidents that run the unfortunate chance of placing the safety and well-being of everyone involved in harm’s way. Two individuals have died and another suffered severe injuries following a multiple-vehicle crash involving similar circumstances in Illinois.
The accident reportedly took place at around 12:30 a.m. on a recent Sunday. Authorities advised that for unknown reasons, the driver of a northbound vehicle veered across the median and continued traveling in southbound lanes. This vehicle proceeded to crash into a second vehicle head-on shortly thereafter and the impact of the crash forced the second car to spin out and collide with three other vehicles.
According to reports, the drivers of the first and second vehicles were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. A third driver reportedly suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. While police have advised that the accident is under investigation, no further details were provided as to why the driver who caused it to occur was traveling in the wrong lane of traffic.
Car accidents can be devastating and suffering serious injuries or losing a loved one under a similar circumstance can be a harrowing experience.
