There are a multitude of scenarios in which a driver may lose control of a vehicle and drift off the road. Even if a car veers only slightly off path, making the transition back into the lanes of traffic can be challenging and should a driver panic and overcorrect, the results could prove disastrous. A recent car accident involving similar circumstances has reportedly claimed the life of a man in Illinois.
Law enforcement agents advised the accident occurred on a recent Monday morning. For reasons unknown, the driver of a westbound car suddenly lost control of his vehicle and drifted off the side of the road. Upon attempting to maneuver back onto the road, police say he overcorrected and crossed into the path of an eastbound truck.
The driver of the truck was unable to react quickly enough to avoid collision and struck the passenger side of the first vehicle. The driver of the first vehicle was reportedly taken to a hospital for medical care shortly thereafter, while the driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have advised that the man who caused the crash was issued numerous citations, including driving on a suspended license, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed.
The loss of a loved one in a fatal car accident can be a difficult thing to accept. When another party is at fault in such an incident, the surviving loved ones of the deceased could choose to obtain legal counsel for advice on their available legal avenues. An attorney can evaluate the accident and assist a client in Illinois in pursuing the full amount of restitution deserved through a wrongful death claim.
