The Marshall Project and the Associated Press have been tracking data pertaining to COVID-19 in United States prison since March. According to the report, there had been 10,544 COVID-19 cases in the Wisconsin prison system as of January 12. Nationally, there have been at least 2,144 COVID-19 related deaths in prisons.
