1 In Critical Condition After Fall Related Workplace Accident

Posted on behalf of Donahue & Walsh, P.C. | July 3, 2019

Many construction workers in Illinois and elsewhere are constantly performing job-related tasks at heights with the use of lifts or scaffolding. Should the equipment workers use prove faulty or defective, the risk of a fall from heights is ever present and the consequences of a similar incident could prove catastrophic. Two workers suffered injuries after the scaffolding they were working on collapsed during a recent workplace accident in another state.

According to reports, the incident took place as the two workers were performing job related tasks on the roof of a home that was under construction. Both workers were reportedly standing on scaffolding when the apparatus suddenly collapsed, sending both men falling to the ground below. One of the men reportedly suffered a major head injury in the accident and is listed in critical condition.

While the other worker also suffered injuries in the incident, the nature of his condition remains unclear. During an investigation into the accident, town officials reportedly discovered that the company who hired the workers did not have the necessary permit to use the makeshift scaffolding. Officials have also closed down the site and placed signs notifying others that the area is unsafe.

Individuals who suffer severe harm during a workplace accident may face a variety of hardships in life, physical and financial alike. Following the incident, a person in Illinois could choose to speak with an attorney for guidance on his or her available options for compensation. An attorney can examine a client’s injuries, along with the circumstances in which the accident occurred, and assist in pursuing the full amount of compensation achievable through all applicable sources.
